Trees For Cities

Trees For Cities works at a national and international scale to improve lives and cultivate lasting change

Trees For Cities have delivered transformational greening projects in schools, providing opportunities for children and adults to forge closer connections with nature.

Trees for Cities are the only UK charity working at a national and international scale to improve lives by planting trees in cities. They get stuck in with local communities to cultivate lasting change in their neighbourhoods - whether it's revitalising forgotten spaces, creating healthier environments or getting people excited about growing, foraging and eating healthy food.

As an urban tree planting charity with people at its heart, Trees for Cities has worked with local communities, schools and businesses for over 30 years to establish more than 1.7 million urban trees in towns and cities across the UK and around the world. They have delivered transformational greening projects in schools, providing opportunities for children and adults to forge closer connections with nature, gaining the knowledge, skills, experience and confidence to plant and protect urban trees for future generations.

With 80% of the UK's population living in towns or cities, many people are exposed to poor air quality, and are struggling with rising temperatures worsened by the urban heat island effect. Without urban trees, our physical and mental health are all affected and our connection with nature becomes lost.

Each year Trees for Cities breaks down barriers to nature, bringing together thousands of volunteers from communities across the UK who want to bring multiple benefits of urban trees to our towns and cities. Their vision - Urban Trees for all, by all - seeks to harness the power of mass community participation to enable and inspire direct local impact on a national and global scale.
